Ambassador Program

At my dance school if you are a member of their ambassador program you get to have photos taken of you in different dance poses. Then, the director chooses one to put on the wall of the dance studio. There is also a group photo displayed. Last week the photos were taken. I think the pictures will look good. Another thing I did for my ambassador program was order a sweatsuit and dance bag. They will arrive in about a month. At home, I have added a pre barre warm up stretching period along with my usual after ballet stretching to my daily dance routine. I did this so that I am more flexible for my ballet combinations. If any of my blog readers have any things they do to warm up their bodies before class that they find helpful, please leave a comment telling about it.

My Classes

Class is great. I like my new modern class a lot. It seems strange to finish my ballet class with all the posture and grace and then walk into a class where you're arching your back and bending all over the place. Sometimes I forget to go to parallel and stand there in first until the exercise begins and I realize my mistake. On Wednesdays some of the girls from the next age group up are in my class so they can spend more time on point. Its cool to see them doing their positions and moves on point. I also have my rehearsal class. The dance we are learning is a "slumber party dance." I don't know why there would be a boy at a slumber party with a lot of girls but that's what the story is. The music is in sixes so I might mess up because I might forget and start counting in eights and dancing the moves in eights.

New Dance Season

This was the first week in the new dance season for me. I have two new classes along with my three ballet classes now since I am in the ambassador program, they are a modern and a rehearsal class. ( The rehearsal class is for learning the dances for our upcoming shows). I am sorry I have not posted in a while I have been busy with school and other things.

Summer Intensive- Part 2

Summer intensive was so much fun. I wish it could have been longer but its nice to have a break from dance sometimes. During the weeks at my summer intensive I realized that at home I haven't been working hard enough at my exercises because at class I found my flexibility had decreased and I couldn't do a cambre front as low as I used to. Even though I needed to work hard to regain some of my technique in some things, I have progressed rapidly in other areas. For instance, last dance season a quarter turn pirouette was a disaster for me. Now I can do a tolerable full turn pirouette without too much difficulty. Last post I forgot to mention that there was a new boy: N. in my class. It was REALLY nice to have another boy in my class. He might be joining my dance school but probably won't be in my class. All in all, summer intensive was a great experience for me and I can't wait for next dance season to begin.

Summer Intensive

Summer intensive is great! I love being back at the barre doing exercises again. We do the same things in regular class except we spend more time between exercises correcting things. Also, after barre work and center work we do some stretches and strengthening exercises. In just a few days I can feel my balance and posture improving.

Dancing Siblings

My family has become a dancing family. I have three siblings who are taking ballet and my five year old brother Jack just started a one week ballet /tap intensive today. I like being able to practice and stretch with my siblings. It's cool to see them working on pretty much the same things I am working on. Stretching is going well . I have mastered the splits in second position and am working on the other ones. Only one week till my summer dance intensive. I am so excited!

Back from Vacation



Sorry for the delay in posts. I just got back from vacation a few days ago. Lately I have been working on some new stretches including the one where you lie on your stomach and bend your back so that your feet touch your face. I am still doing my home exercises and stretches. A few days before our vacation I found out I had a hole in my pants. It seems that I have been practising the splits so much I split the front of my pants.
